Tourlane, the Berlin-based online travel platform, has secured an additional €25 million in a Series D funding round. The round was led by Sequoia Capital-the investment entity which will also become the company’s largest shareholder-and welcomed another new investor to the family of shareholders, including Target Global and Jared Smith, co-founder of Qualtrics. In addition, Tourlane will continue the strengthening of its existing partnership with HV Capital, which had been with the company since its infancy.
Tourlane relies on a special blend of professional expertise and artificial intelligence to allow highly customized, tailored journeys. The platform connects direct individual travelers with a local expert from the destination region, who based on personal preferences and needs curates personalized itineraries. Having earned an excellent reputation for delivering high customer satisfaction, many repeat clients returned to the company, and the list of destinations that are being offered grew throughout the year as several new locations were added to its inventory.
Julian Weselek, CEO and Founder of Tourlane, said on the new growth phase for his company: “We are looking forward to further the ride with Sequoia as a long-term partner and are welcoming Target Global to the table. We have put in plenty of effort to make sure that our product is what our customers adore, and we are all set to continue our innovations in AI, extend our offerings, and grow internationally.”
We’re at a transformative time for the travel industry. When AI is fully integrated, we’ll have the power to create bespoke travel experiences in ways that have never been possible before. Tourlane is particularly well suited to capture this change and deliver millions of travelers incredibly personalized and memorable experiences.”-Andrew Reed, Partner at Sequoia Capital, who will deeply impact the company’s direction. With this new investment, they are able to further develop their AI capabilities, scale into other markets, and continue to provide such amazing travel experiences.
In return for the funding, Tourlane has promised to make its AI-powered travel-planning platform more substantial in making travel planning easy and faster, hence accessible to a global audience. A part of the funding will also go towards growing the company’s presence in new international markets and refining its technology to meet new customer needs that evolve with time.
What Tourlane does is synthesize the leverage-ability and scalability of an online platform with local knowledge and expertise, creating a hybrid solution that brings out the best of both worlds. According to the company, its customer-centric approach is the heart of its success, gaining a loyal following that rates its quality service very high. The round will enable Tourlane to further build its technological capabilities, expand its offerings even more greatly, and continue to lead at the head of the swiftly changing face of the travel industry.
Tourlane aims to make millions of travelers able to discover the world in a way that can be exclusively suited to their individual needs as it prepares for its next stage of growth, using AI to provide personalized travel experiences.
