Meta‘s Threads social network is testing a new feature that will allow users to access detailed insights about the performance of individual posts. Until now, the platform only provided aggregated metrics for all posts combined, but now, users can view how each specific post is performing in terms of views, likes, and replies.

If you are in the current test, you will be able to sort posts by their performance metrics, such as the number of views, likes, and replies they received. You will also see a breakdown of the interactions, distinguishing between followers and non-followers. Another new feature is the ability to track how many people followed you after viewing a particular post.

According to Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, this is a move to make users better understand what types of content really resonate with their audiences. The update comes at a time when Threads has updated its algorithm to prioritize content from accounts that users follow in a move aimed at improving engagement and personalization.

This is part of a spate of recent updates Threads has received, likely in reaction to the increasing competition from Bluesky, which recently surpassed 20 million users. Meta has been working at a rapid pace to improve Threads to stay competitive with Bluesky, especially after changes to X (formerly Twitter) made it more aligned with right-wing content after Elon Musk’s acquisition.

Threads currently has a massive base of over 275 million monthly active users. But Bluesky has been gaining traction, specifically in daily active users, so Meta has been continuing to add new features to the app and refine other ones to keep users and fend off competition in the fast-growing social media landscape.

In addition to new insights, Threads have made several other updates recently, which include deeper integration with the fediverse, advanced search, and customizable feeds, setting up a default feed for its users. The site further introduced AI-powered summaries of trending topics to allow the users to stay updated about discussions on the latest topics of concern.

Meta is working to improve Threads as part of its strategy to keep up with the competition, especially as users continue to flock to other platforms like Bluesky, which has gained popularity recently. The ability to track post-level performance could help users optimize their content better and increase engagement, making Threads a more valuable tool for both individual users and businesses alike. With these updates, Threads wants to consolidate its standing in a changing landscape of social media.
