Nowlun, a digital freight forwarder in the Middle East and North Africa, has raised $1.7 million in seed funding. Nama Ventures and A15 led the round with participation from Sanabil 500 Global and a number of angel investors. This will enable the company to continue to expand its services and build on its innovative technology.
Launched in 2021 by Moataz Khamis as its CEO, Mahmoud Khaled as its CTO, and Ahmed Emara as its COO, Nowlun has quickly become the most prominent player in logistics and freight forwarding across the MENA region. Its platform offers businesses something unprecedented: transparent ocean freight rates, efficient shipment management, and real-time cargo tracking-which will revolutionize the whole logistics process.
Revolutionizing Freight Forwarding with Technology
Traditionally a business based on manual processes and not transparent prices, the freight forwarding industry has been a mess of inefficiencies. Nowlun now seeks to break this paradigm by infusing the sector with state-of-the-art technology that can make things simpler throughout. By adopting digital tools, Nowlun empowers businesses to navigate their shipments better and make data-driven decisions quicker. One of the most important features of the platform is its real-time pricing system. Nowlun has integrated with all major shipping lines in the region, giving businesses access to up-to-date ocean freight rates and making it easier to compare costs and select optimal carriers. The platform also offers advanced shipment management capabilities, including cargo tracking, automated notifications, and proactive issue resolution. All these features are designed to streamline the shipping process, reduce operational complexity, and improve transparency.
“We are committed to revolutionizing logistics,” said Moataz Khamis, CEO of Nowlun. “Our platform simplifies the shipping process by integrating technology into every step, eliminating inefficiencies, and giving businesses more control and visibility over their shipments.” Expanding Reach and Market Penetration
The investment will heavily play a role in scaling up Nowlun’s operations, improving its market presence, and refining the capabilities of the platform. The company is already seeing significant traction – especially in Saudi Arabia but also throughout the MENA region – and is concentrating on further expanding its base of users.
Beyond the simplicity of shipping, Nowlun wants to solve some of the major problems businesses have with cross-border logistics. With advanced automation and an integrated seamlessness of key logistics functions, Nowlun is looking to become a valuable tool for businesses relying on timely and efficient global trade.
The executive in Nama Ventures, Mohammed Alzubi, commended Nowlun for its excellent growth and penetration into the market, especially in Saudi Arabia. He pointed out how the company was able to connect with the growing demand of the region for efficient logistic solutions. “Nowlun has displayed high expertise in the logistics area, and it has shown some great traction within the region,” he said. “We’re excited to support their journey in continuing to innovate in freight forwarding.”.
A15’s Bassem Raafat also expressed confidence in Nowlun’s potential to disrupt the freight forwarding sector. He emphasized the platform’s ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency and streamline operations. “Nowlun is in a unique position to revolutionize the freight forwarding space. By combining real-time pricing, advanced shipment management features, and cutting-edge technology, Nowlun has the potential to lead the way in transforming the logistics industry in MENA,” Raafat noted.
Freight forwarding is one of the critical functions involved in the global supply chain, coordinating shipments between shippers and carriers. However, the sector has long had problems such as inconsistent pricing, delayed shipments, and lack of transparency. Nowlun’s platform will now seek to address the issues head-on by giving businesses the ability to make decisions faster and more informed, lower costs, and enhance the general shipping experience.
It is timely because businesses in MENA are increasingly turning to technology to optimize supply chain processes. With real-time pricing, advanced shipment tracking, and seamless integration with major shipping lines, Nowlun is well-positioned to meet this growing demand for more efficient and transparent logistics solutions.
Future Prospects and Growth
Now that the company has received seed funding, Nowlun plans to enhance its platform and add more services. The company will continue to improve its shipment management systems, develop real-time tracking capabilities, and introduce new features that will provide greater flexibility for businesses in the region. It seems that Nowlun will be one of the big players in the future of freight forwarding in the MENA region as it continues to innovate and respond to market demands.Nowlun is now poised to growth with the backing of top-tier investors. Its promise in modernizing the freight-forwarding landscape is there, promising businesses the tools that are needed to streamline, save costs, and gain that all-important edge in today’s increasingly complex world of international shipping. As it continues to expand, it will play a big part in the digital transformation of the logistics industry across MENA.
