Beyond Appliances, a new emerging smart kitchen appliance brand from India, successfully secured $2 million in a seed funding round. Fireside Venture Investment Fund III led this round of funding with support from Dharana Capital. Other notable angel investors include Shezan Bhojani, founder of Design Cafe; Saurabh Jain and Ramakant Sharma, co-founders of Livspace; and Chandru Kalro, former CEO of TTK Prestige, among others. Dexter Capital acted as the exclusive advisor to the investment round.
Started by Eshwar K Vikas and Rakesh Patil in 2024, Beyond Appliances seeks to revolutionize the Indian kitchens through future-proof, intelligent appliances. The company evolved from the idea that while kitchens continue to be at the heart of daily living, they have been untouched by technological innovation for far too long. Among its groundbreaking products, Beyond Appliances already offers the world’s first chimney to run with Android, featuring a 7-inch display that may be used as an all-encompassing kitchen management system. This innovative chimney allows users to access OTT apps, listen to music, set reminders, and create grocery lists via integrations with apps such as Zepto and Blinkit.
In addition to its smart appliances, Beyond Appliances offers other smart kitchen products, such as smart hobs with digital timers and whistle counters, and advanced safety features like Flame Failure Detection (FFD), in order to make the kitchen more convenient and safer for use. The new investment will support the development of the company’s technology, strengthen its manufacturing capacity, and further its mission: to create smart, connected kitchens.
We have chosen to invest in a group that feels that our technology-empowered approach, augmented with the deep understanding of the dynamics of Indian kitchens, will help us redefine the kitchen experience,” said Eshwar K Vikas, Co-founder and CEO, Beyond Appliances. “Our success in transforming commercial kitchens through Mukunda Foods has given us invaluable insights into the power of innovation. This investment will significantly increase our R&D capabilities and will enable us to upscale our manufacturing capacities, and thus present the Indian market with even more groundbreaking products,” he added.
Rakesh Patil, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, commented, “This funding is a big milestone for us on our journey to disrupt the kitchen appliance space. After detailed R&D we realized that Indian kitchens are unique and cannot be solved by general off-the-shelf solutions. We will further augment our R&D efforts and build more India-specific smart appliances with this funding. We have already filed multiple patents and now look forward to introducing various AI-supported cooking aids and IoT integration to truly transform Indian families’ interaction with kitchen technology”.
Fireside Ventures, which led the investment, sees great potential in the growing demand for smart kitchen solutions in India. Shuchi Pandya, Principal at Fireside Ventures, stated: “The market in Indian kitchen appliances is witnessing a major shift towards smart, connected products. Beyond Appliances’ ability to bring practical functionality with advanced technology puts them uniquely in a position to capitalize on this growing demand. The strength of the founding team combined with deep experience in kitchen automation through Mukunda Foods will put them in a uniquely competitive position in this market.”
Beyond Appliances’ novel range is available on leading e-commerce sites, Amazon and Flipkart, besides Bangalore’s select retail stores. The company already has multiple patents to its credit and is working to add eight more new innovations to its existing portfolio before making foray into new segments. These innovations will target the shifting needs of Indian kitchens to solve problems related to cooking efficiency, safety, and convenience.
The funding round will enable Beyond Appliances to enhance its research and development, scale up production, and bring new technological advancements to Indian kitchens. The company’s long-term goal is to continue driving innovation in the kitchen appliance space, making smart technologies more accessible and integral to daily life for Indian households.
Beyond Appliances will set the stage for a new generation of kitchen appliances in India by combining practical design with technologically advanced innovative ideas. Emphasizing innovation, customer needs, and the unique challenges of kitchens in India, it is all set to become a market leader by offering solutions that combine convenience, safety, and modern technology to enhance and make everyday cooking and kitchen management easier.
