Freight brokerage and carrier operations platform Vooma has raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Craft Ventures. The funding comes following the successful seed investment worth $3.6 million from Index Ventures and an angel round that also attracted executives from top logistics and tech companies such as Motive, Project44, Ryder, and Uber Freight. It shows strong market demand for Vooma’s technology, which is revolutionizing the way logistics companies are operated, and will propel its continued growth and expansion.

Since its launch in 2023, Vooma has gained traction in the logistics sector, securing partnerships with top brokers and carriers, such as Echo, MODE, Arrive Logistics, and NFI. This company’s AI-driven platform has been a key enabler for these companies. They have seen 12.5x revenue growth, more than 32x increase in transaction volume, and have managed hundreds of thousands of freight loads. Vooma is also partnering with other leading transportation management, pricing, and communication systems, including Front, Greenscreens.ai, McLeod, and Turvo.

AI Platform of Vooma: Simplifying the Operations of the Logistics Industry

Vooma’s flagship platform empowers logistics companies by automating time-consuming tasks, allowing teams to focus on more strategic and customer-centric activities. At the core of Vooma’s offering is Vooma Agents, an innovative AI platform that operates across email, text, and voice channels. This cross-channel functionality enables the automation of workflows that were previously too complex to address with traditional systems.

Some of the key products powered by Vooma’s AI technology include:

Vooma Quote: This tool automates the quoting process by identifying quotes, drafting email responses, and determining whether an opportunity was won or lost. Customers report saving five minutes per quote, which quickly accumulates into hours of time saved each day.

Vooma Build: A data-entry assistant that streamlines the load building process. It can complete order entries in seconds, enabling teams to save up to 10 minutes per load. So far, clients have been able to automate up to 80% of manual order entries, which has significantly reduced errors and supported scalability.

Vooma Voice is the newest addition to Vooma’s set. With Vooma Voice, brokers and carriers will now be able to accept calls, automate several activities like scheduling appointments or setting carrier check-ins, load booking of inbound loads, and more in their phone-based logistics efforts with an aim to increase the operational efficiency.

Elevator Pitch

The solutions by Vooma’s AI help the routine offloading, freeing up time for logistics teams to work on high-value activities: customer service and building those relationships that require human touch. Jack Twyman is Chief Customer and Digital Officer of MoLo Solutions, one of the top freight brokers. “The value proposition of the platform has helped my team maintain those relationships with the customer while making our operations a bit more efficient.”.

Vooma’s platform integrates seamlessly with our systems, enabling us to offload repetitive tasks. This frees up our team to focus on the customer service and relationship-building aspects that are key to our success,” said Twyman.

Vooma’s founders are veterans of the logistics and technology sectors. Jesse Buckingham was the CEO of ASG LogisTech and Mike Carter was the second employee and a founding engineer at Kodiak Robotics. Together, they built a team focused on reliable and powerful AI solutions in the logistics industry.

Tackling Industry Challenges through AI

There is some 11.5 billion tons of truckloads in the United States alone each year, and all these require coordination between hundreds of touchpoints involving shippers, brokers, and carriers. As Vooma’s AI platform complements existing workflows, there is less workload on the human workers, allowing them to focus on more complicated, challenging, and rewarding assignments.

According to Buckingham, “The logistics industry is very complex and highly fragmented.” Vooma “brings AI into current systems and communication channels so as to reduce the most mundane workloads, freeing time and mental capacity for more important and influential tasks.

Mike Carter added that the introduction of cross-channel digital agents powered by AI marks a transformative shift in the logistics sector. “AI’s potential in logistics is enormous. Vooma’s cross-channel agent is already proving how AI can transform everyday tasks and significantly improve operational efficiency.”

Preparing for Future Growth

Vooma intends to expand the team, particularly in areas of engineering, go-to-market efforts, and customer success, with the new funding from Series A. In fact, its offerings have come at a perfect time as logistics continues to feel the pressure from the industry to streamline its operations, cut costs, and provide better service levels. Efficiency, in turn, increases as companies look forward to thriving in a competitive market.

Lainy Painter Singh, Partner at Craft Ventures, was optimistic about Vooma’s future, stating that the company has deep knowledge of the logistics sector and can disrupt the market. “The transportation industry is the backbone of the U.S. economy, and Vooma’s solutions are helping logistics companies solve some of the industry’s most pressing challenges,” said Singh.

The Future of Logistics and AI

Vooma’s AI-based platform will change the nature of how logistics companies work: improving efficiency, scalability, and accuracy. This will enable brokers and carriers to make improvements without necessarily needing to replace the existing infrastructure in which they work.

As demands for AI-driven solutions grow within the logistics industry, Vooma is well-placed to continue its trajectory of rapid growth and help different companies across the sector navigate their challenges and optimize their operations. Vooma reduces the burden of manual work in enabling logistics teams to focus on what truly matters to build lasting relationships and solve complex problems.
